NU students bagged “Special Jury Prize at Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award Competition”
On 15th December
2019, the 7th Al Royal Youth Initiatives Award exclusively sponsored
by Occidental Oman hosted the award ceremony for shortlisted teams. Several teams
presented their exceptional and innovative ideas in various categories such as
electronics and robotics, solar energy and recycling. Students of Department of Mechanical & Industrial
Engineering, from College of Engineering, National University of Science and
Technology presented their project under the title: “Neural Networks Empowered
Robot for Logistics”.
The team has won the Special
Jury Award along with a cash prize of 250 OMR in the category of Electronics
and Robotics. Five Mechatronics students of Department of Mechanical & Industrial
Engineering consisted of namely, Mr Ahmed Khamis Al Ghadani, Ms Maisa Abdulkhaliq
Taj Al Balushi, Mr Rocky Das, Mr Meshal Al Ojaili and Ms Waleeja Mateen under
the supervision of Mr D. Ragavesh a staff from Department of Electrical and Communication
Engineering. The Chief Guest Ms Sheikha
Ayesha Al Siyabiyah, Chairperson of Public Authority for Craft Industries and
Mr Steve Kelly, President and General Manager of Occidental Oman presented
award plaque received by Mr Ahmed Al Ghadani and Ms Maisa Al Balushi. The
project idea and presentation was greatly appreciated by the organizing
committee and panel of judges.
