Department of Mechanical and Industrial Hosts a Webinar on “Welding codes and standards for oil and gas Industries”
IMechE student chapter at Department of
Mechanical and Industrial engineering successfully organized a webinar “Welding
codes and standards for oil and gas Industries” on 7th June 2020 for the benefit
of the student community. This webinar is presented by leading professional
Engineer Raja Lakshmi Narayanan, Senior welding engineer, Gulf Petrochemical
Services & Trading L.L.C, Oman, Muscat, Oman. Mr Raja has been contributing
to Welding technologies more than two decades of work experience in Europe, the
Middle East and India and has been the recipient of many prestigious
professional certificates in the area of welding. The webinar covered the form
basics of welding to an advanced level of welding. it also focused on the need
of welding professionals in the oil and gas industries and current scenario of
welding best practices in different applications.
Special emphasis on codes and standards used
across the world were explained in detail along with quality aspects of the
welded joints. The job opportunities
and the future of the welding field were also presented to guide aspiring
engineers. More than 40 IMechE student chapter
members and students and staff participated in this event. Response from the
students was encouraging as they responded that this webinar was very useful to
enhance their knowledge in this field. The session was ended with the vote of
thanks by the IMechE student member. The Department of Mechanical and
Industrial Engineering acknowledges all participants and extends sincere
applications to the guest speaker Mr Raja for his consent to deliver this
webinar for the benefit of the student community. Also, the department would like to thank
